--The Slump--

Alrighty. So, everything is on hold for a bit. I'm just trying to get some stuff figured out, ad get over this crisis I seem to be having. I also have a few urgent things to take care of, and maybe after that I'll be good?

A few pieces of the Schedule are currently trashed, as well. I'll go over it soon, promise.

Until then,

--Of Bunnies and Their Fluffy Little Tails--

Admit it; bunnies have the fluffiest tails on the planet.

But, alas, this post is not about those kinds of bunnies. Unfortunately. As they are adorable. Their twitchy noses are the best part, beating out even the fluffy tails.

No, the type of bunny I am going to briefly discuss, is the plot bunny. It has struck again, this time leaving me with an idea that is a combination of Pitch Black (Chronicles of Riddick), The Book of Eli, Falling Skies, and Cowboys and Aliens.

I know; already, I can tell that it's going to be epic. I'm still working on Shattered Gears, though, at the request of some friends. My loyalty to them drives me so far.

My plan: stick to the schedule and finish it by August 17. I shall write a minimum of one chapter a day (roughly 3 k) on it, and only then will I allow myself to work on Her Biting Breath.

In case you haven't guessed, that is the title of the bunny.

--Referring to the Schedule--

This post is going to be insanely short, but I am tired and I need to shower, and I still taste blood in my mouth from my epic wisdom-teeth removal.

This morning, I made the schedule. The schedule said that I would make it to 40 k in Shattered Gears by the time I went to bed tonight. At the time, I needed about 4.5 k.

Then, I got to 39 k, and realized I had to take something out, so I was back at 38 k.

Then I made it to 40 k. So, my dear peeps, good night an thank you for hopefully supporting me through my poor, wretched demise, at the hands of too many words. I now must figure out how to make a transition in the middle of this chapter, end the chapter, start part two, and then some stuffs really going to go down.

Good Night

--The Schedule--

I might be crazy for setting this thing out, but my schedules never really go according to plan. Although, I'm pretty driven at the moment, so we'll see.

Here is my schedule for writing. I'll revisit this every now and then, and we'll see how well it holds up, hm?

PS: For all of the dates, I'm referring to the end of the day. So whatever my goal is should be done by the time I go to sleep.

July 14, 2012: Achieve 40 k in Shattered Gears
August 17, 2012:  Finish Shattered Gears (goal of 80 k)
December 31, 2012: Finish Transient (goal of 80 k)
May 31, 2013: Finish editing Transient (draft one) and Kinetic (final draft); finish planning Book Three of the Abyss (currently untitled)
June 1, 2013: Start writing Book Three of the Abyss
August 1, 2013: Start querying Kinetic; Finish editing Transient (final draft)
August 31, 2013: Finish planning Serenity (pitch not yet up on Writing page)
December 31, 2013: Finish Book Three of the Abyss (goal of 80 k)

Yeah . . . that looked like a pretty full schedule. Basically, by the end of next year, I want to have completely finished four books: Shattered Gears, Kinetic, Transient, and whatever the heck I'm calling the third book in the Abyss trilogy. After finishing SG, I'm probably just going to set it, and it's sequel(s), aside for a bit so I can focus on the Abyss, since those have been my main focus for a few years.

Well, and then there's Serenity, a paranormal/dystopian that has also been a main focus for me, but I have unfortunately been neglecting it while finishing Kinetic, and then with SG.

So . . . full schedule, and we shall see how successful I am with it, eh?

Hm . . . if I want to write another 4.5 k for Shattered Gears, I should probably stop writing this post and get with it.

--Operation Operation: Completed--

I know, it's about a day late. So sue me. I really needed to get to bed last night, though, so you're getting this post today as my mouth is throbbing and my chin is numb.

And I'm talking, nonexistent numb. Every time I raise a freaking glass of water to my mouth, I can't feel my lip on the glass, and thus I feel like I'm turning into some sort of fountain. Not a pretty sight.

Anywho, back to the Mission. It was successfully completed, thanks to an awesome group of friends who kept me writing.

My goal to get to 30 k was a success. Before sleeping, I made it to 31,723 words.

Success.

--Operation Operation: Update--

I'm really stupid. Or maybe the summer days are just blending together.

On Monday, I figured that if I wrote 1,800 words a day then I would reach my 30 k by tonight. That was Monday night. I needed 5 k. I apparently thought it was Sunday.

But, all is well. I wrote a little over 2 k yesterday, so I need about 1,900 words today to reach my goal. I won't be able to stay up late, though; I probably need to go to be by around 10 pm, since I need to get up about 5:30 am for my lovely wisdom teeth shenanigans.

Current Word Count: 28,110

--Operation Operation: Commenced--

Mikki has another mission.

On Thursday, July 12, I'm getting my wisdom teeth taken out at approximately eight o'clock in the a.m. I'm not completely happy about this course of events--it'll take away probably the whole day of writing.

Upside: it'll be the first time I'm on high-end medications, so it could go interestingly. I'm going to look at it from a writer's perspective: take notes later, and it could be useful in my writing one day.

Mission: complete 30 k in Shattered Gears by bedtime Wednesday night.

Current Word Count: 24,746

--Purely Elementary--

I want to be like Sherlock Holmes so bad. The man's a blazing genius, is what he is, and I don't give a custard that he's fictional.

If Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was still alive today, I'd tell him that he has a really long name. Then I would tell him that he, too, must have been a blazing genius to come up with Mr. Holmes. The dang character is too smart for his own good, and makes me feel incompetent, but I still love him.

Significance of This Post: Shattered Gears is partly a mystery. I suck at writing mysteries, so I have quite the challenge ahead of me. Thus, I am watching the Robert Downey Jr. version of the great detective. Maybe some of the genius will rub off on me.

--Quarters and Dimes--

Mikki is terribly upset at the moment. She is tired and slightly cranky, and the eccentricities are at an all-time high.

She should really stop staying up until all ungodly hours in the morning. I wasn't even writing this time, I was reading. Until almost four in the morning.

Don't try that at home, kids.

On the other hand, Mikki is extremely happy. And she has a dare for you.

I dare you to click on the 'Mikki Writes a Novel' page. It's not that hard, just do it. Scroll all the way down . . . all the way, until you reach the end of the description for Shattered Gears.

See that word count bar? It's a tad hard to miss, in my opinion.

But, who asked for Mikki's opinion? Nobody, that's who.

Now, look at the numbers below the bar. Now dance.

Last night, I made it extremely close to 20 k. My goal is 80 k when it's finished, although I won't attest to it going over. Do you know how much of 80 that 20 is?

25%

I'm rounding up here; so sue me.

Officially a quarter through with her current novel . . . and loving it. I mean, who wouldn't, right?  I'm almost a quarter of the way through with writing a book. A freaking book.

I'm turning on some happy music. If you want to tell me how far you are with writing your current book,  do it. Mikki is curious how she ranks.

And you are correct. Dimes have absolutely nothing to do with this post. It just sounded cool.

--Operation Zombie Killer: Completed--

Complete as it can be, at least. I actually finished it at  three thousand and something words a few hours ago. It took all of the third and fourth installments of Resident Evil, as well as the entirety of Zombieland. But, I got it.

Most of it, anyway.

Okay . . . I lied. It's not completely finished . . . if it was, that would be some kind of awesome. I have absolutely no idea how to end it. It should need two more scenes, three at the absolute most.

So far, the main character has been shot and literally dragged to hell.

Awesome day. Poor Nicki, I think Mikki should buy her a present. How about a Heart of Blood?

Kidding. Sort of. Maybe?

Have you ever listened to the song, 'Breath of Life', by Florence + The Machine? Bloody good song, I say. Brilliant and speaks to the soul. Especially the part that says, "And my heart is a heart of black/For the devil to dance again . . ."

I dearly hope I don't have to point out the connection between my title and these particular lyrics of the song. Please don't make me have to do that.

--Operation Zombie Killer: Recommenced--

It's actually kind of funny: my short story isn't even about zombies.

Status Update: I have a confession to make. Last night, after writing that last post at whatever ungodly hour it was . . . I did not go straight to bed. Well, I guess technically I did. I got into bed, but by no means did I go to sleep. I picked up my Nook and said, "Just one chapter . . ."

One chapter turned into two . . . then three . . . and then I told myself, "What the heck; I've only got about seventy more pages until I finish the entire book. I'll have at it."

I do not regret my decision.

I do, however, think it's odd that my short story isn't about zombies, yet this entire mission is named after them . . . nice going, Mikki. Nice.

On the other hand, the third Resident Evil movie is in my DVD player, ready to play.

The current time is 11: 00 am. I have approximately 2.6 k in my short story. I must finish it within the next few hours and come up with a decent title.

Challenge Accepted.

--Operation Zombie Killer: Progress Halted--

(see previous post before reading)

Status Update: Progress has been halted. The time is currently 1: 16 am. I have completed the first two Resident Evil movies in their entirety.

I feel I have underestimated the length of this short story. Either that, or I've just been lazy. I prefer the former option to the latter, however, so the official explanation shall be that I underestimated the length of the short story.

The Good News: I have written another 1.6 k since my last post.

The Bad News: I will not be able to finish the short story tonight.

Operation Zombie Killer shall recommence at approximately 11: 00 am. This leaves me nine hours to sleep, and a thirty minute allowance to make coffee and hit the snooze button on my alarm clock.

--Operation Zombie Killer: Commenced--

Unfortunately, I don't get to kill zombies. Sad day, right? Although, I do have Dead Space on my Wii. If I really felt like it, I could go power that up.

No. Instead, I'm sitting in front of my laptop, watching Resident Evil on the television and eating cherries. I should be writing . . . A short story popped into my head while I watched Ghost Rider last night. Nicholas Cage does a really excellent crazy man, did you know that?

But, on to more important things . . . more important? Probably not, actually. Mikki enjoys attempting to make things look important, though. She finds it fun. Talking about herself in the third person is also something she does remarkably well.

My Mission: finish the currently untitled short story before I go to bed. My watch has been synchronized at 10:46 pm. My short story has approximately 1 000 words to it's nonexistent name.

Can I do it?

We shall see . . .

Mikki Levoe, Signing Out

--Welcome and Good Day--

I'm not exactly "new" to the blogging business, but for the sake of simplicity, let's just say that I am, shall we?

So, hello, welcome, and good day to anybody who happens to be reading this. At the moment, I'm calling myself Mikki Levoe. I'm going to write a book, or two . . . probably more than that.

See that little tab at the top of the page? It says 'Mikki Writes a Book'. That's where you can find the titles, descriptions, and word counts of the novels I'm currently working on. Have any questions? I only bite when there's a full moon out.

Kidding. Sort of.

Anyhow, I'm still working out the kinks of the layout and design of this thing, so bear with me. There's probably going to be random tabs and extra gadgets popping up while I get it all sorted out.

Before I leave, I should probably tell you that I can get a bit eccentric at times.

Fair warning.

On that note, it's finally raining outside. Yesterday we actually had hail. Hail doesn't help my writing mood much, but, hey, the rain does, so I'm not going to complain.
